roberta’s parents, who fled Nazi Germany, did not encourage her to be a dancer. A learning disability as a child, a weight problem as a young adult, minor surgeries and a hip replacement later in life, could have additionally been impediments but she never stopped moving!
As a child roberta could never sit still. Her parents enrolled her at a local “recital” school, (Don Baldwin School of Dance), in upper Manhattan. When she decided to have a career in dance, roberta started to re-train at Joffrey Ballet and American Ballet Theatre in NYC, and thereafter received a BA in dance from Adelphi University. She immediately started teaching after college, thanks to her ballet professor, Dariusz Hochman, who gave her that first opportunity at Virginia Beach Ballet. Her career blossomed as a performing artist in local ballet and modern dance companies, Atlantic City, Industrial Shows and thereafter, on television, music videos and in feature films. roberta has always been in the limelight and even performed in Morocco for King Hussein at a New Year’s Eve Gala!
For 13 years, she co-directed, dance plus…a whole lot more in Englewood, NJ, and currently directs the dance program at bergenPAS. She has been on the roster at Steps On Broadway for more than 30 years, along with teaching at the prestigious NYC Summer Intensive at American Ballet Theatre. Her International credits as a guest teacher have taken her around the world.
